About Me:
Stan Lesk was born in , on January 20, 1950.
Outgoing, precocious and bursting with talent, Stan Lesk became a professional actor in 1972. Always willing to take risks and go the extra mile for the big laugh, Stan's personality and talent took him across and back again.
While still pursuing his career in , Stan was one of the producers of Asterix Productions, a company specializing in trade shows. This broadened his knowledge of theatre to include administrative and organizational skills.
In 1986, Stan was nominated for an ACTRA award in for Best Variety Performance on Radio for the musical THIN ICE by Jim Betts.
One of Stan's fondest theatrical memories is when he performed "Sit Down, You're Rocking The Boat" from GUYS & DOLLS at a fund-raiser for the Neptune Theatre in . When Stan finished the number, actor Tony Randall applauded wildly from the wings and repeatedly shouting "Bravo!"
Since moving to , Stan and his wife, Lorraine Lessard, have raised three children together, Micheline, Bernard and Melanie.
Stan's career suffered a serious set-back in 2000 when he discovered that years of pratfalls had taken a toll on his body. He required surgery to replace both his hips, a procedure that took some of the wind out of his sails but gave him extra incentive to get back to work.
Highly respected as an artist and a teacher, Stan continues to work where the jobs take him. Stan's favorites include a very successful, critically-acclaimed run at Theatre Calgary and Canstage (), reprising the role of Candy in OF MICE & MEN. He previously played the role in and
In 2010, he was again critically lauded at Theatre Calgary and the Royal Manitoba Theatre Center's production of "One Flew Over THe Cuckoo's Nest" as Charles Cheswick, the popular season two of "Todd and The Book Of Pure Evil" on The Space network, as well as "Less Than Kind" on HBO Canada.
Stan's work continues to impress whether on local stages or far afield.
Today, Stan is looking forward to his next acting challenge, be it on film or on stage. Meantime he continues with his parallel career: teaching through the Artists In The Schools program. He is also heavily involved in many new film and tv projects. Stan's tenacity in the face of career set-backs and health issues reveal a man of character and fortitude. He is an artist through and through.
