Nella Anfuso (b 5th october 1942), Contralto e Soprano, sings one of the favorite arias of the castrato Carlo Broschi called Farinelli (1705-1782): "Son qual nave ch' agitata". It is the aria of Arsace from act III / scene 1 and was composed by Farinelli's brother Riccardo Broschi (c 1698-1756). Farinelli sung this center showpiece, inserted in the pasticcio ARTASERSE with music by Hasse, Attilio Ariosti, Nicola Porpora and Riccardo Broschi, given 29th october 1734 in the theatre at the Haymarket marking his debut in London.
"Son qual nave" replaces the aria of Arbace "L'onda dal mar divisa" in the original libretto of Pietro Metastasio (1698-1782) first set to music by Leonardo Vinci (c.1690-1730) staged in Rome 1730. The poet of "Son qual nave" is unknown.
