well it has been ages since I shopped for a camera. But There are lesser known brands that are as cheap as that, but I'm sure you can get cameras that are Sony, canon and so on for that price range. Though you might get some on CameraWareHouse.com. that is where i got my very 1st camera.
I use a Canon Legria FS306 for videos! Some times to take photos with it as well.
Then I have a professional SLR which is a Canon 400D.
