Established in 1986 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, South Shore Habitat for Humanity serves 35 cities and towns south and southwest of Boston, MA USA. As of January 2010, 46 houses have been built, housing more than 170 adults and children. The mission of South Shore Habitat for Humanity is to provide simple, decent affordable homes in partnership with families in need. Family Partners put in 500 sweat-equity hours and must pay back zero interest mortgage for the cost of building the home. All labor is provided by volunteers.
