The video was wrong there - tisram is not a tala, it's a nadai (3 counts per beat). This is Chatusra Jathi Dhruva Talam (4+2+4+4).

Keep note that M.S. Amma was 72 in this video. She had an iron practice regimen to keep all her facility intact and her repertoire was incomprehensibly huge and every thing was polished to jewel like finish. Bhava is her BIGGEST point.

Wow. This man can drive on any part of the track when he wants to make his move. He beat the much more technically superior Williams with active suspension and electronics and what not in a much inferior Mclaren with pure driving skill in one lap!

Carnegie Hall concert, 1977. Man those concert halls abroad have just brilliant acoustics w/ just the right amount of reverberation -- that's why the recording sounds particularly wonderful. Though this is on the higher side for Carnatic vocal.

MD Ramanathan was a musician's musician. I happen to have a lot of his recordings. You need a listen patiently but you will get mines of precious treasures. His bass voice was so unique.

Beautiful Recording for it's age. All the hallmarks of what is the Parur style of violin playing -- supreme technique and one finger, one string passages, very beautiful bowing, an individual sound, beautiful raga bhava, an integration of Hindustani and Carnatic styles and all....

0:33 They hit the Tara sthayi Nishadam -- the Ni ABOVE the top Pa -- few have their range and flexibility of voice and their superb style of singing.

I think it is V.V. Subramaniam on the violin and T.K. Murthy on the mridangam. Thyagaraja and Dikshitar did compose a few keerthanams in very simple western tunes like Vara Lila gana lola and Sakthi sahita Ganapathim.

The Chaccone pushes the instrument to it's very limits in the chords - or for that matter lots of stuff written by Bach and the other baroque era composers. The bow arm and bow hand have a lot of work to do...

Actually with the plugins we have today, we could enhance anybody's recording to approximately simulate concert hall sound -- and to say the least, the results are breathtaking, especially the remastered recordings.
