I don't agree that Keith does Chuck Berry better than Chuck Berry. Berry sounds funkier to me and of course he can sing, unlike Keith. Both are good writers but Chuck is an all time great. Especially when it comes to writing Chuck Berry style songs!

The Crystals had a fabulous sound with the castanets and piercing vocals. One of Phil Spector's triumphs, to give the devil his due. Until today I only knew this song from the Laura Nyro's cover, which is great, but gentler and more romantic. This song could have been an A-side hit easily.

While she's best known for cover versions of her songs I prefer her own performances - and her coolest stuff wasn't covered, since it was too long for am format, and very personal. Always love Laura!

i heard them at cafe au go go in ny. i loved their long version of hoochie coochie man. schwall used an acoustic guitar with a pickup but he could really build a dramatic solo.

For a change of pace and great slide guitar listen to Blind Willie Johnson.His lyrics are religious so if that bothers you so be it, but he's a great singer, narrator, and slide player. He does a great version of John the Revelator.

I remember seeing this promo as a kid Waht a clever concept. The zombies wre always really intense and theatrical. underrrated group, I wanted to buy the song but you assume there isn't one. But it's a rewrite of Just out of reach which i finally acquired. nasty stuff!! Love it.
