For some inexplicable reason, the output piston would stay up for me, even though it was no longer powered. Having a repeater set at no delay between the output and the output piston solved this issue.

Neat enough, but it can be made with a much simpler circuit. At this size, you can easily have one that actually moves a stone in the roof and replaces it with glowstone, and then does the opposite when you turn it off again - rather than using the glass approach
