About this user

I've been creating virtual reality performances that combine video, animation, gestural drawing, sculpture, music, and dance. It's a new art form that I call "Spontaneous Fantasia". I regularly perform in theaters and immersive digital planetariums.

I wear a lot of hats: interactive designer, filmmaker, graphic artist, and composer. My career has centered on pioneering the use of real-time animation systems for various of forms of entertainment . I'm an award-winning pioneer of computer-generated puppetry, having created many digital puppets over the years. In March, 2006, I won a Technical Academy Award for his development of a real-time pre-visualization system. I've created a number of interactive attractions for Disney, Sony, and others. I organize the Los Angeles Abstract Movie Workshop, a monthly gathering of artists. My work has been exhibited at DomeFest 2007, DUX05, Ars Electronica, SIGGRAPH, the L.A. County Fair, Sinking Creek Film Festival, New York Animation Festival, and others. In 2006, I received a commission to perform with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.

My performance works are not complete, but always in a state of change. The only time a piece is finished is when I'm performing it -- but it lasts only as the moment. With the push of a button, I erase it, and it is gone. It's my way of breaking away from the notion that animation has to be a polished, precious artifact. It can be something more loose, more dynamic, more ... spontaneous!
