Founding member Rick Lewis began playing the violin when he was 6 years old. By age 10 he was programming music electronically on his Commodore 64 computer. At age 18 he began performing live in the band Stone Pony with Kevin Garbee and Thomas Neuhaus.Creating music has always been a part of Rick's life but it was not until 2004 that he returned professionally as a member of Seattle based Voyager One. He played keyboards and samples alongside the bands founders Peter Marchese and Jeramy Koepping. The highlight of being a part of Voyager One was playing the Seattle Art Museums Best of Seattle Awards with another Seattle favorite Heliosequence.
Much of the time spent with Voyager One also included working with projectionist Projectorhead on the DVD release Shadows and Daydreams. It was this time that greatly influenced the visual aspect of Splicebox.
In 2009 Splicebox released an unofficial interactive installation Toward Z which recently made semi-finalist in the Adobe Design Achievement Awards.
Currently Splicebox is working on a LP code name "Reset". The first single "Reset Return" was released October 14 2011.
Monstrously Perfect ... Bravo.
