We've recorded the drum tracks for "Why?" in Gabor's apartment in about 3 or 4 hours on a laptop and some outboard recording device. We've used only three microphones to make this.
(No microphones were harmed in the making of this song.)
We've played the song a few times live in 2011 and it shortly became on of my favorites from all the new songs from that time.
It felt great to work in a team again. I sometimes forget what that feels like. And that I enjoy it!
I also enjoyed playing producer on a song that has input from other musicians -- not just myself.
After recording the drums, there was a lot of cutting and re-arranging. We have tracked the bass about one month later, and I think they turned out GREAT! I love a good grove, and this song has it.
The rest of the recording and mixing was done at my place, as usual.
I rarely have a problem finishing a mix, but this song took a really long time because of all the demo mixes and arrangements that were made. Trying to decide which one is "best" is absolute nonsense in these cases, and I always forget that.
There was also an issue with my laptop being serviced for a few days... but all of that is behind us now and we have a new song that you can download right here! lyrics ******************************************* LYRICS *******************************************
When she's gone all the clouds play dead And the break of dawn Well it just turns to yellow stone in my hands Like it's just hanging on It must take a lot of time to heal Oh, but why does it take so much?
When I'm out of love, you know On the edge, waiting To crumble down and it's so hard
To keep my head clear Mind without a fear In every corner of the room I am alone
And why, why why? Why, oh, why? Why, why, why? Why, oh, why?
To the grave you drive me down and back Yeah, you can be so cold Like old dogs we're, we're having heart attacks Still, we're not getting on It must take a lot of heart to feel Oh, but I can never have enough
Cos I'm out of love, you know On the edge, waiting To crumble down and it's so hard
To keep my head clear Mind without a fear In every corner of the room I am alone
And why, why, why? Why, oh, why? Why, why, why? Why, oh, why, why?
Why, why, why? Why, oh, why? Why, why, why, why? Why, oh, why, why?
Out of love, you know On the edge, waiting To crumble down and it's so hard, and it's so hard
To keep my head clear Mind without a fear In every corner of the room I am alone
Why, why, why? Why, oh, why? Why, why, why, why, why, why, why? Why, oh, why?
Why, why, why Why, why, why, why, why

"We are told that people stay in love because of chemistry, or because they remain intrigued with each other, because of many kindnesses, because of luck. But part of it has got to be forgiveness and gratefulness." — Ellen Goodman

The videos I create amount to hours of editing work as the clips I use from each of the sources listed are about a few seconds in length. I assemble them together to create a story and add special effects.
