Christina Aguilera performing at her all time favorite singer, Etta James, funeral

Who started this oversinging style? I can't listen to today's singers, even though many have great voices. Was it Stevie Wonder?

I'm surprised that this 45 got as high as #77 on the charts because it is hard to find. I've only found two copies in my life and I"ve seen a fair amount of records. Sometimes a record will get by you though. Is this record really that scarce?

Sons of the Pioneers - Trees

From a very early 45, released in April, 1949. Part of a box set of three 45's (Set # WP-168). The original 78 was from 1947.

    spazhat spazhat commented:

I have this 45 with a black label that looks like your label. It must have been issued separately also. I wonder if 48-0006 was the sixth 45 ever issued?

Bobby Charles - Why Can't You - Good Mid Tempo 50's R&B / swamp pop

It's Mike's Birthday (Chess1458). Chess is his favorite label so I've got some rare Chess goodies going up tonight.

This is almost identical to Roy Perkin's "You're On My Mind" on the Meladee label, which was possibly the first Swamp Pop 45. It was even rawer and more intense than this version. This verson is pretty intense though. Thanks.
