@barlangbandobolok The DA40 and C172 have the same engine, but the 40 is much lighter and therefore faster with better climb rates. How exactly is it weaker?

@NMoulana First off, TAS is not a "useless figure". It is very important and used to calculate GS. GS doesn't reflect the aircrafts performance like TAS does. You could get a Cessna 152 going 200 knots over the ground, provided you have a 100-110 knot tailwind. A Cessna 400 will do it with a head...

Just curious... how does airspace restriction play into gliding. I know in Canada, at least as a power pilot, you require a clearance to be above 12 500 ft and must be IFR above 18 000 ft
