Actually, my mic isn't USB; it's simply a headphone/mic jack. The microphone came with my very first computer, which was back in 1994 xD. I would recommend getting a mic that's a USB since I hear that they offer a better sound quality; the price shouldn't be too bad; just look around on various websites, search for good prices, and don't forget to read reviews on the mics; they'll definitely help you out.

Well, I simply capture my audio through a VERY OLD stand-up mic, but it seems to be holding up well :p Before, I would use the built-in microphone in my laptop, but the sound quality wasn't actually the greatest, so I switched to the current one I have now. As for the programs I use, I actually just use the capture software I have for my videos, either Camtasia Studio or PowerDirector. The actual quality of the sound will all depend on the microphone itself
