the drummer plays exactly like a guy i used to go to high school with...loud and sloppy, more fun than talent

why is big country so awesome? they are ridiculously good--loved them back in the day and now getting into all this youtube footage (saw a lot of the 80s bands live but never BC)

ian mcnabb is great, i have loved the icicle works since i was a kid, second only to big country in my mind for that era...but what is with his Neil Young trip?

stuart definitely wins the award for most hideous shirt of the decade...these guys are great

yes, mark brzeziski is a sick-ass drummer...as many chops as any jazz-fusion drummer but more musical, in my opinion

good interview-- he actually challenged the band a bit to respond to their critics, and they do so honestly and eloquently

very well spoken and funny bunch of guys

@crotchetmonger you got that right-- few people have the amazing combination of chops, taste and creativity that he has....the drum parts are as much a part of the songs as any of the other instruments-- plus he totally ROCKS the kit..

matt has a book that has been out for some time called 'chop shop' for guitar that is an extremely cool and practical source of great and usable guitar stuff

steve lillywhite is awesome-- cool to see his personality matches up with his musical genius

this is really super cute-- she can really sing...this makes me kind of sad with what happened after

too bad the audio is not good-- these guys rule-- i liked them a lot back in the day, but they have grown on me over time as so much of the music of my teen years--the '80s-- has not...they are really sharp musicians, above and beyond most 'pop'acts...

@Nigelxman stuart is in fine shape here-- you have issues

sometimes i hear the music of my youth and it fails live up to my memories of that time...big country actually sounds better and more incredible now that they ever did-- my perception has only grown clearer with more life experience, both good and sad...this music transcends its own time, and stu...

@aarlevanbram the seer is an incredible album just as good as the crossing, steeltown, or the wonderland ep for that matter...i don't think you can second-guess true artistry like this

phenomenal...reminds me of early allman brothers just in terms of a big, awesome live band...these guys were brilliant, each and every one

it's kind of hard to choose a favorite when a band has at least twenty 'greatest songs ever'-- wish i could find a live video of 'the sailor' on you tube here...got one to post?

this band was pure genius, and not just stuart-- mark brzaezsiki is one of the alltime baddest-ass drummers, and this band let him play

i am really grateful for this great footage of a lot of big country that never made it across the sea to the us...they really stuck to their guns and their sound...a brilliant band of musicians, a great poet, writer and singer in stuart ( not to mention their incredible and ego-free guitar sound)

i am so stoked that these '77 vids are coming out of the woodwork-- i am always dissapointed when someone posts an audio only ...

i am super-stoked that people are digging up these live videos from 1977, my favorite year of the dead...too bad there is no video from Barton Hall...

@GeorgiaBoy1961 you are entirely right-- there are a lot of great guitar players, i know a few myself...but the legends sing and play and write great songs-- bb king, knopfler, hendrix, and on and on...learning the crafts of writing and singing greatly increases your chance of reaching an audience..

the other part about t-bone and how he got his sound-- he never used his pinky, often just the two strongest fingers (ie the two Django used) and used only downstrokes. part of his fat, powerful sound..if you don't believe me,, check out some of the t-bone footage her on you-tube

joes playing is not my favorite, at least for blues, but he is a great cat and anyone who has the stones to actually play their '59 and tour with it can't be too bad...a nice guy

not a bass, not very musical but the kid sure has fast fingers...this type of thing will not get him laid...he needs to learn some James Taylor tunes, quick

this dude is the real 'best guitar player in the world...' chops like that don't come easy...after seeing a guy this good, i never want to pick up my guitar again...makes john mclaughin look like a sad sack, jimmy hendrix seem like a pansy...guys like this prove to the world that super-fast, unme...
