I have been in to Northern Soul since i was 14 it all started in my home town of Bradford little place called Reflections it was under the arcade near the ice skating rink.

This is were i got my 1st taste of DJ`ing. Also attended Talk Of Yorkshire all dayers , also soul nites at Annabelles, Harmony Ballrooms, Gatsby`s , Queens Hall Nighters ,Civic Hall Halifax , Burnly Cats Wiskers, Clifton Hall Rotherham, And the ultimate for me Wigan Casino was the back end 1980 / 81 a few memories from there.
Leaving Halifax on the train with a good little crowd.
Then when we got to Wigan it was abit scary walking up to the casino a few of the local punks wanted two kick are heads in. But what a sight outside the club a sea of soul bags and long leathers.

I Remember this one night this car came flying round the corner an knocking this girl over it was not a pretty sight. Here i am 3 away from the door some guy says will you take my bag for me and i will meet you inside of course i will (silly me ).
A few of my mates could not get in the casino due to the fact of there age.I was the youngest there about 15 at the time. Any way im at the desk can i look in your bag i get asked a quick search then the bag is back in my hand and im heading up the stairs and the bloke who owns the bag is waiting for me he takes it off me an i never see him again.

I just wonder what was in that bag and he must off hide is gear well.
Would have been a shock getting caught with drugs because all the years i have been on the scene i have never been tempted to take anything.
The music is my drug Plaster falling from the ceiling, Toilets like a swiming pool, Mister Ms buzzin, Bradfords best dancers in the dance competition Vernon, Paul Murphy, just a few good memories for me,
Its now time to start a family but still collecting the odd bit off vinyl.
Shit im 18 baby on the way need a job window cleaning seams easy . I did not like making my boss loads of money i thought i can do this lets knock a few doors a few weeks later i have got a few houses to clean since then the window cleaning bussiness has grown bigger and better i love my job i have met loads of intresting people so that is how i get back in to the Northern Soul scene.
One of my customers has the window open in his house ping my ears stand up im dancing round the garden. Let her go you dont really love that girl otis smith.
The guy comes out we get chattin he says i run a soul night at the Yorkshire Rider club Halifax so of course we went and what a good night we had since then we have been activ on the soul scene most weekends.
