There are few things harder to do in the music industry than to follow up a powerful debut release with an equal or better sophomore album, but the St. Louis-bred quintet known as So They Say has proven that it can be done. After releasing an infectious debut self-titled EP and further maturing their sound on the follow-up full length "Antidote For Irony" in the spring of '06, it was unknown whether or not the Missouri boys could keep progressing. Critics and fans should have no fear, for their latest studio effort will not be leaving stereos anytime soon. "People can expect a new sound from this record," says Joseph. "This album shows our growth. We just knew we could do more musically, we wanted to do more, and we have done more with the new material." Prepare to be blown away by the release of "Life In Surveillance" available October 9 on Fearless Records.

It was only one year after forming when vocalist/keyboardist Joseph Hamilton, vocalist/guitarist David Schroeder, drummer Justin Hanson, and guitarist Nicholas Walters put ink to paper and signed with Fearless Records in 2005. The promotional muscle of Fearless and regional appearances on the mid-western portion of the 2005 Vans Warped Tour launched So They Say out of St. Louis and into the eyes of the industry. After a busy winter of playing nightly shows to fans nationwide, it was time for the boys to head into the studio with producer Matt Squire (Panic! At the Disco, The Receiving End of Sirens) to work on their debut full length "Antidote for Irony." "It was a reflective growth period for the band," says drummer Justin Hanson. "We wrote our songs, but Matt really made us buckle down and concentrate." A hard-working band, a dedicated label, and a focused producer paved a smooth road for So They Say as the summer of 2006 approached.

"Antidote for Irony" was released in March 2006 to critical acclaim. Alternative Press raved, "you can't help but be reeled in by their infectious sincerity." The album was not only being warmly received by critics, but fans as well showed their love for So They Say by helping to make the band #1 on the PureVolume charts three weeks in a row. The band understood that a good album was not the only key to success so they quickly embarked on a vigorous touring schedule which included dates on the 2006 Vans Warped Tour as well as tours with Halifax, Sugarcult, A Static Lullaby, The Spill Canvas, and
The Receiving End of Sirens. Performances at the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey kept the boys busy even after performing as swarms of kids lined up around the block in hopes of meeting the band. "It was awesome being on Bamboozle," remembers guitarist Nick Walters, "getting to play in front of such a large number of singing and screaming fans, and then having them wait for us afterwards, was such a great feeling."

With the continuing success of "Antidote For Irony," the band decided to ride the wave to Los Angeles, California to record, "Life in Surveillance" with producer Matt Hyde (Sum 41, No Doubt, Slayer). "Working with Matt was one of the best choices we could have made," says vocalist David Schroeder. "We meshed really well. We collaborated on ideas and recorded an awesome record we are really proud of." After hearing all of the tracks it was instantly agreed that "Wake Me Up" would be the single. The song showcases how much the band has matured vocally and the opening guitar riff instantly demonstrates the bands musical progression. "Dave brought this song to the table early in the writing process; he was really excited about it. This track was one of the first tracks we laid down with Matt," says Joseph.

With the buzz of the new album and their itch to get back on the road, So They Say jumped on tour with their friends in The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and began to prepare for their third year on Warped Tour. "After Warped Tour we plan to continue touring our butts off. "We are excited to be going on tour this fall with Atreyu and Haste The Day. "We're going to be playing our new songs and reaching new fans," says Nick. "We're pretty stoked; this is going to be an amazing tour."

So They Say's powerhouse guitars and dueling vocal hooks leave you no choice but to nod your head and sing along. "One thing I can say about our live show is that it is completely surreal," says Nick. "When we get on stage we turn into different people because we are super amped on our music and the fans. We feed off the crowd and it just creates an amazing experience every night." So They Say gives us a glimpse at what true indie rock should sound like...and a reason to get out of our chairs and dance.
