The world got it's first glimpse of TK on September 17,1978 at around 11:43 am. I was born in a town that noone's ever really heard of in Texas. I've always had a big imagination because in part I was half only child and half performer. Music has been like a forced marriage to me. At the age of 12, my mother entered me into a Juneteenth pageant. I was so terrified because all the other girls my age had talent, looks, and more money than me. I was very reluctant to do it but my mother was not having me quit. So at rehearsal one day, the director annouced we had a talent portion of the pageant. A few weeks before this I heard a girl on the radio and I was dumbfounded. Suddenly it just clicked. I wanted to sing and be and the radio. So I practiced and practiced until I began to get it down. The girl was 18 year old Mariah Carey's first release "Vision of Love". So (back to the rehearsal) the director (of the pageant) went around and asks each contestant what they would do. I've drawn a complete blank as the woman comes up to me. She asks what my contribution will be I stuttered until mom said "Why don't you sing that CD you sing it ALL THE TIME!" I decided I would sing "Love takes Time". The night of the pag fright took over and my mom had to come backstage and tell me "Look you are either gonna do this or not. Which is it?" It was a breakthrough for me I decided to do it the best I could and I WON THE Pageant! I got to ride on the back of a car, wave smile, and all the things a little girl dreams of. After the pageant, I began singing at church,weddings,show choirs in grade school, and college performance group "The AC Singers". Music is now my life. I want to make it one day and share my gift with the entire world. John Legend is a big inspiration to me because we're the same age and he is showing me where I can be if I WORK! Mariah Carey of course because she was a spark my best friend Adrienne, Andrea who is a constant inspiration to me, my mom who is my one and only Rock, and last but not least my three big brothers: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
