Like the song but the visual was a bit out of place for the first part until the train travel images appeared. A few more would have made a difference.

Impeccable in every department! A lesson to every singer, songwriter and arranger. If I was

on a desert island with a choice of discs to keep me company, this would be one of them. And

what company!

So rewarding to hear great songs given the respect they deserve. Top job, friend!

The quality of the singing and the setting becomes apparent when you realise there has been

no instrumental accompaniment - and that it wasn't missed!

Heavenly! Superb interpretation and intonation - with a perfect lingering sweet melancholy!

A happy discovery! I am waiting for a dvd of Harmony Lane. Now I'll have to hope Mr Roush's

The sheer commitment getting out and about (in all weathers) has to be applauded. And it's

not just the visuals...listen to those wonderful sounds! Lovely stuff..

One of many matchless Novello songs that deserve contemporary reappraisal. I have suggested that John Wilson, his orchestra and soloists are just the ticket for this on CD after

their wonderful arrangements/performances of film and show tunes - found elsewhere on YouTube.

My late father survived the Western Front, the Italian Front and the Anglo-Irish War and died

of TB aged 50. How can anyone not "like" this heartrending evocation of a distant age of courage and unfathomable sacrifice? The first big "hit" for very young Ivor Novello whose

As a songwriter I understand (but do not necessarily agree with) your view about words not

always being impotant (how about the title for a start?) but I really enjoyed this full blooded arrangement of a great melody.

It may be your first YouTube entry - it certainly shouldn't be your last! Full-blooded and

touching rendition of a great song.

wonderful scene-stealing bout of irrespressible laughter when raising Bob

Cratchitt's salary is an example of a top actor making a character his own. And using "Barbara Allen" in the score - inspired!

Thank goodness the "spirit" of the movie was in keeping with the image - such as

it was. The film was too fine to be spoilt by this modern fascination with "bloops".

I can live with it.

Charmingly sung - an interesting variation on the "usual" arangement although

this Englishman has to admit a preference for the (to me) more poignant pitch of

the original(?) folk song arrangement found elsewhere.

A real trip down memory lane via the holiday line that has taken so many on their first holidays. Nicely done - thanks.

This brings back so many memories to travelling home to South Devon back in

the 60s when steam was still (just) "king". That must be some telephoto lens

you have there!

Wonderful stuff. As a schoolboy back in the 1950s I would stand at the far

end of the UP platform of Bath Spa and wait for the "Merchant Venturer". There

was always an extra thrill if it was headed by a Britannia class - those huge

driving wheels dwarfing this infatuated 12 year old kid! Magic...

I had the LP fifty years ago and I have the CD now...and I'm so grateful that I have been around long enough to know just what a great singer and a great song can

bring to our lives..
