Joseph Kony is the subject of a new documentary released by Invisible Children.
Joseph Kony is a radical leader in Uganda.
He leads the Lord's Resistance Army, which is an extremely violent group that forces thousands and thousands of children into sex trafficking and the military, where they're tortured and often killed.
Invisible Children made a touching and heartfelt 29-minute documentary that takes the audience through the disturbing details of what Kony is doing to the children of Uganda.
Their ultimate goal? MAKE KONY FAMOUS.
Because Kony is in hiding and his identity isn't exactly well-known throughout popular media and culture, Invisible Children is leading a movement that calls upon some of our biggest and brightest stars and political figures to get the word out there.
Without missing a beat, several major players immediately stepped up to the plate and began their quest to enact change.
Rihanna, Ryan Seacrest, Nicki Minaj, Piers Morgan, Kristen Bell, Katie Couric, Kim Kardashian, Zooey Deschanel, Nina Dobrev, Diddy, and a ton more all tweeted support for the documentary and encouraged viewers to donate and get involved.
So, where do we stand with this issue?
In 2011 the US dedicated 100 troops to help the army in Uganda track down Kony, but unfortunately, to no avail.
Invisible Children's spokesmen aren't discouraged by this though, and neither should you, because it's not too late to help.
April 20, 2012 is the day we must all combine forces and CALL KONY OUT on his crimes against humanity. Whether it's distributing stickers, making posters, buying a support bracelet on their website, it really does not matter, as long as you MAKE KONEY FAMOUS.
In the words of George Clooney, "I'd like indicted war criminals to enjoy the same level of celebrity as me."
Let's make George proud and do our part to protect the children in Africa, so they too can live in stability, devoid of any these horrific conditions.
All the links to watch the documentary, become involved, and purchase official STOP KONY memorabilia are below in the description box (see above).
Also, make sure you tell us in the comments section below how you plan to help out with this global crisis, and subscribe to ClevverNews for more updates on this story as they come in.
