Looks like you are running a straight "turn down" operation...no edger! I worked in an old oxford mill for about 5 years.....worked my way up from "carrying deal" to running the main saw.

Hardest part was "trim and tally" way too busy.

I ran an old C4B cancar with a senator 4 cyl diesel for about 3 years.......worked very well...hard to start...but I could not get the old thing stuck...;)

Never ever want to see anyone hurt...however I miss mid to late 80`s to early 90`s NASCAR....so much fun to watch and way more competition.
