Interesting that (given her small speaking voice and demanour) she starts the songs strong, and then towards the end, gets an additional power/depth from somewhere --- two transformations. I believe this song was last before the two encores: Jezebel and then Joan of Arc.

God bless this man and let him know how widely and deeply he is loved. Robert is a National Effing Treasure, and we are so lucky to be alive in his brave lifetime.

I'm glad more and more vidoes of the Calvi tour are appearing. This one is excellent, and although I have "favorites" (Le Trianon gig!) , this rendition of LOVE WON'T etc is marvellous --- more relaxed and informal. All except the heels --- why those heels????!

I just watched Bryan Dick in an Inspector Lewis drama; Bryan is his character! What a treat to seem him so relaxed in this interview.

You can't help but admire this man. I can't think of another "star" performer who remains rock solid ordinary -- in the nicest way -- when speaking in public. He is a national treasure.

I watched the Guardian interview and performance, and was struck by the contrast between her rather thin "London / Eastuary" talking voice and the power that comes out in her singing. Impressive quality. Apparently her music degree focused on violin, but where did she get the voice?
