I've seen these used to make Watt-meters, displaying V, A & W. That would be cool, also, a state of charge meter for a 12v battery. You can even get little iPad style touch screens for them, trouble for me is, they give me good ideas but I just don't have the code writing knowledge to make them. ...

Would be very interested in seeing how you get on making a MPPT controller and metering device with an Arduino. I did briefly look into the idea but found there was little out there to help the beginner.

I've been researching a similar idea for a 25w mono panel, with efficiency and size as factors. I've found two ICs that look very promising for making a small scale MPPT charger.

Have a look at the Linear Technology LT3652. It looks like it'll do much of what you looking for and it's only 3mm ...

Think it's called an under voltage lock out circuit. Looks straight forward though I'm not too sure how it works yet.

The SPV1020 chip looks like it would need a small supporting circuit, along the lines of the STMicroelectronics STEVAL-ISV004V2 or their STEVAL-ISV009V1. Am looking to try and build something based on these once I get my head around the supporting components, for a mono 25W panel.
