"The Winter March" is based on the 1100 kilometre journey of the 104th Regiment from Fredericton, New Brunswick to Kingston, Ontario during the War of 1812. This Heritage Minute -- written, produced and directed by high school students -- follows the experiences of eighteen year-old Lieutenant John Le Couteur in the winter of 1813. The script is based upon Le Couteur's journal, as edited by Donald Graves in Merry Hearts Make Light Days.

The Winter March won the Best Senior High School and Overall Film at the Heritage Minute Contest held by the Historica-Dominion Institute at http://www.gotaminute.ca/.
