slow your speed down, i learned on a kick wheel so my first 500 or so pots were made with relatively slower to medium speeds, and now its been about 2 years on an electric, but just because a wheel can go fast doesnt mean it should necessarily go to that speed.

slow the wheel down about 50% fast...
