Sleeping Giant is a filmmaking collective founded in 2006 by South African filmmaker Dara Kell and American media activist and filmmaker Christopher Nizza. We wanted to establish a new organism to advance years of anti-poverty organizing via the medium of documentary films. We have found that producing films with those most affected by harsh economic conditions has accelerated organizing efforts and worked as a bridge between groups who are disparate both geographically and ideologically.
