Started DJing with one of my best friends in high school, with his older brother's pioneer sound system. We used a record player (definitely NOT a Technics 1200...LOL), and some cassette decks, and a Radio Shack mixing board to mix with. We were pretty terrible when we started. Regardless of our bad performance, we still kept doing it, and then we got better... :) However, he moved on from DJing after high school, and while I initially looked for a new partner, I remain a solo act more than a decade later.
I've done a little club work, but mostly mobile. I live in Utah, so if you are on the East or West Coast, think what it was like 10 or 20 years ago, remove the tall tall buildings, and millions of people, and that will be a good start to imagining Utah.
