I see that there is much misinformation about this song, in checking publishing info, it seems the first commertial recording was made by Roy Hall & His Blue Ridge Entertainers on the 7th of November 1938 for the Vocalion label, Ervin refused to accept the amount of royalitys Vocalion was willing...

I dont believe this is Ervin Rouse, although its possible, but im not aware that he recorded it more than once, Roy Hall was the first to record it (1938), but due to a royalties dispute that recording wasnt issued until 1999, Ervin recorded it with his brother Gordon in 1939, that aint this

Nice song, but if this guy was such a well known singer, & this is 1 of his best known songs, why is it so almost impossible to find out what year it was recorded, heck i cant even find out what decade it was recorded in
