I think I'd have more respect for Serena as a great player if she was more dignified in her victories. The 'number 1' gesture at the end was particularly rude. There's no denying she's been a moving force in the women's game but I'll be quite glad when she retires.

The difference between these two in this match up was desire. Mary wasn't together in the first set and allowed Venus to white wash her. Then look at the results in the second, you couldn't separate them by a hairs breadth. Being a Mary Pierce fan bought out anxiety I never thought I had!

Mary at her best in this match, moving well ad striking the ball with speed ad power. Even if Monica had been on better form she still would have lost in straight sets. Thanks for the upload!

Yes exactly, Anna's lack of second serve in a climate of power players didn't help. The major reason she didn't win tournaments was because she had the consistency of custard. But when she was having a good day, her movement and intelligence around the court was second to none.

You are right, Pierce should have won this. The power was evenly matched between the two but pierce was moving better, had she not got so nervous at 5-4 final set she would have beaten Davenport on this occasion.

That was like watching Mary on speed. 2005 was definitely one of we best seasons.

Regardless of wether the umpire or Justine is to blame for this, serena still lost the match. Mental strength is key at top level competition and she obviously couldn't control it sufficiently. Let's not forget serena has displayed some disgusting behaviour during matches on a few occasions herse...

I think Laura has great potential, at the moment her game doesn't have enough variety to challenge the seeded players on a regular basis but she is still young. If she takes her time to perfect her strengths and work on her weaknesses she will no doubt be playing in the top 40 in a few years time.

lets remember that the band got ditched under the original line up. the real sucess came when members were replaced, starting with siobhan. i dont thinks its fair to judge these girls yet as they havent put out material as a new foremat. with keishas departure they seem much more comfortable with...

@FlameMirage I think that as long they are the Sugababes they have rights to every song associated to the band. Mutya tried to reclaim rights to the name and ended up with wrapping paper. Which is an odd thing to try when you are no longer a member of the band.
