The Burmese military junta has released pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner symbolises the struggle of Burma's people to be free.
She has spent most of the past two decades under house arrest or jail in a country run by the military since 1962.
She was released from her third period of detention on 13th November 2010.
Aung San Suu Kyi's release is very welcome but does not signify any political change in the country.
Burma is ruled by one of the most brutal dictatorships in the world. The Burmese Army rapes, loots, burns, tortures and kills. Civilians are shot on sight, even children. It spends billions of dollars on the military while the population goes without access to proper healthcare, education and food.
There are still more than 2.100 political prisoners in Burma.
