About this user
Out of a somewhat typical Southern HipHop Scene, comes an artist and a company that want to "change the game". The company is Closed Circuit Entertainment, and the artist is rising star Skool Boi Yo.
Donning the name given to him by friends when he was younger, for his seemingly obssession with wearing backpacks, this 20 year old is not your typical rapper. This ATL native doesn't sport crazy ice, and won't be seen popping bottles at your favorite club. Instead, he chooses to travel from city to city, pull all nighters in the studio, and make multiple guest appearances in clubs throughout the night. "It's all about the Grind. When I'm sleeping, somebody is working. There's always work to do."
Skool Boi Yo could have easily fallen victim to the streets. "I played in school alot, and didn't take my education seriously. At the time, I didn't understand, education was the key to bettering my life and situation." After being kicked out of Booker T. Washington H.S., he chose getting his GED as his first goal. After that goal was completed, he moved to pursue his music career. "I begin rapping at the age of 16. Many of my friends were accomplished rappers, and they influenced me to do the same ." While Skool Boi Yo's friends were mainly writing about money, drugs, and violence; he found it more natural to write about females and relationships - topics that relate to the masses.
This becomes immediately apparent on his first hit single "Crush", which is currently in heavy rotation in clubs throughout the southeast. School Boi Yo is currently in the studio, wrapping up his debut album, along with cousin/producer JCoop, who is a rising star by his own right, working with such artist as; BoHagon, Rich Kids, Young Ralph, Pimpin of Dem Franchise Boyz and many more. With follow-up tracks, such as MVP, My Main, the street banger I Hustle, and yes the smooth sounds of the ballad Desperate Cries, there's sure to be a long hot summer in the forecast. While Smoke and Drink's are not on the agenda, the streets will be drunk with the music - this kid is for real!
