Kessy is born in the United States, California. At the age of 10, his mother married a French West Indian from Martinique. He lived there for 7 years before coming to France. He was doing some beat boxing before he got interested in singing R&B and reggae-dancehall. He started by interpreting famous tunes of stars such as Akon or Sean Paul before releasing his own single 'I need a girl'. He became known thanks to videos of fans put online on the internet.
