Tasmania's abundance of wind and water has the potential to make the Australian island one of the world's leading renewable energy providers.
Local leaders have pledged that in a few years all of Tasmania's energy needs will come from renewable sources.
But as Al Jazeera's Tony Birtley reports, the effects of climate change are making that goal difficult to achieve.

On Oct 30th 2009 protest where held across America at EPA regional headquarters and other locations to protest Mountain Top Removal strip mining. This is one of those protest--the one in Atlanta. The security hassled us from the very start. They told us we could not walk on federal property. They told us we could not let our signs even touch any federal building. Most of Mexico's immigrants come from Central America, but at least one million of them arrive from United States.
Al Jazeera's Franc Contreras reports from the central Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende, where foreigners say they appreciate a simpler kind of life.

more
What was once a site of pride and beauty, the main waterfront in the Philippine capital, Manila, is today little more than a massive rubbish dump.
Manila Bay is clogged and polluted, primarily from the squatters who have set up homes along the waterway.
The government is trying to clean the bay up, but as Al Jazeera's Wayne Hay reports, there appears to be no quick fix.
