@TYLERTERMEULEN The music is from Salome (a French film, I think), soundtrack composed by Roque Banos. And I agree, she's the best skater in the world! Amazing choreography and jumps.

The first double axel was originally planned to be a triple loop (at least, that's what she did at Europeans that year, but fell). I don't understand why she didn't go for it here after missing the salchow, she needed more content.

Nice music, and I love some of the little touches in this programme, but what is that thing at 2:31 supposed to be? Horrible!

Beautifully choreographed programme, how I do wish she could have medalled here. Can't believe how late the lutz attempt came in this programme, with about 1 minute to go.

The roller skating moves are: the sequence of jumps including a double axel and lots of loop jumps, the travelling camel spin and the layover camel spin at the end. You can also see it in the way she moves generally, especially the take-off to the double axels - she looks like she's skating into ...

Lovely skating, they were far superior to the Soviet couples at this event. I do wish Chris had done the cartwheel at the end instead of Jayne, it would have made for an eyebrow-raising ending.

When Vanessa Riley gives you 5.5 and 5.4, you know you're doing something right. This was her best skate ever AFAIK, infinitely better than her FP at Europeans that year.

Toe-pushing at its very best.

*Love* the spins, but in her early years (esp. 91-92) I found her very OTT, like a hyper six-year-old who'd overdosed on E numbers and run riot with mummy's make-up bag. Her style matured a lot over the next couple of seasons.

The circular step sequence was "aborted" - more of a horseshoe than a circle.

She landed the flip at Worlds that year but didn't attempt the lutz. This was the second season running when she ditched a programme after Europeans and before Worlds (she changed her SP after the 92 Euros). I heard she had 'flu during the week in Helsinki, hence the below-par performance.

That's the only time I've ever seen her do a salchow from a three-turn instead of a mohawk, interesting! Great skating, even the layback spins were better than usual.

Ever-decreasing circles going into the loop. She was more consistent on it when she did it along the length of the rink (going in a straight line) instead of in a circle.

Who on earth chose that music? Sounds like the theme tune for some awful 70s detective series.

Who'd have thought she'd be landing a throw triple axel at the Olympics 12 years later, representing the USA (after beating lung cancer too)???

Did she take jumping lessons from Claudia Kristofics-Binder?

Interesting that she doesn't even bother trying to sell the salchow, she knew it was a dud! She got away with way too many underrotated jumps over the years.

Gorgeous spin at the end. I'd much rather see basic spins done properly than the hideous ones they do now where they screw themselves up to get an extra millionth of a point and constantly change position.

Although not her best performance, for my money Trenary deserved bronze over Thomas as she skated a good short too (combination slightly scratchy but on one foot). She had a God-given grace about her that very few skaters have. No way should Thomas have placed 4th in the free above Trenary.

Great smile at the end... what a pity he never did that in competition!
