@TimeToDwell I've seen boxers use this (without the jumping however). Look up Marquez' training for Pacquiao-Marquez III. Technique has always been my highest priority too, but you hone your body to give it your best. Give it a go, you might surprise yourself.

I think this interview is pretty old- when most MMA followers were ignorant to anything but Muay Thai and BJJ.

There's a vid now with Joe demonstrating the TKD spinning back kick, and I've heard him acknowledge the benefit of TKD in recent commentations in...

Okay, again with this ideology of MMA... MMA is not a style. Nobody went out and just suddenly developed a brand new martial art.

So when going back to the title "... Male MMA fighter,,,OWWWNED", how do you know that HE hadn't had any experience in boxing before?

@KimchiEmo I respect your questionability, but what makes you believe competition holds merit as the only proving ground for martial arts? Why not the streets?

@amestris6565 Taking nothing away from your opinion, but I think it's also that Silva is "tall". He's one of those fighters who are aren't naturally bulky enough to take up heavier weight divisions, so he has to keep to a lighter category. It's similar to that of Paul Williams, for example.

I'm guessing Kickboxing originated from Muay Thai, but I've learned Kickboxers coming from a range of backgrounds (TKD, Karate, etc)
