To the "no mike for Mary" questions, it's simple really. She had an amazingly powerful voice and if singing on her own mike in those days of primitive sound mixers, she would have overwhelmed Paul and Peter. Doesn't really matter, the end result of their stage and studio recordings was very good.

Zed, please take a chill pill. These songs were an inspiration to millions of Briton's during the War, and they are remembered and loved by the descendants of those who fought that war. If they choose to sing in honor of their fathers, then Bless 'Em all.

Gawd, I love this song. I've sung with a group in Idaho, and had good reviews. Tom wrote this along with Ian Tyson, as he's done on several other great songs. What a pair and what a great song. If it's alright with Tom, I think I think I'll borrow a few more of his songs. I'm thinking "The Rose o...

Tom is indeed an incredible songwriter. I'm actually a bit surprised that there aren't more covers of this great song on YouTube. We have Dave Alvin's great version, but we need more. As soon as I dust off my fingers, I'll post a cover. A truly great song needs amateur's singing it to keep it alive.
