News ***** JULY 29, 2010 The first Singer & A Song Night was an overwhelming success. 40 of the best unsigned and emerging singer-songwriters from the greater Sacramento area participated. The played to an enthusiastic crowd. A video montage of all of the artists was created. The music is by Kellie Hoover. Kellie was the winner of the drawing to win a complete music video production to be produced by Singer And A Song.
There will be some changes in the next event including ending earlier. This may reduce the number of open spots. If you are interested in participating in the next event go to www.singerandasong.com as soon as possible.
NEWS ***** June 20, 2010 Singer And A Song has just reached an agreement with Marilyn's on K ( www.marilynsonk.com ) to host on Tuesday, July 20th, what will be the first of several Singer And A Song Nights at Marilyn's. The event will be a showcase for talented singer songwriters from the Sacramento, California area. Each performance of an original song (solo vocal and acoustic guitar) will be recorded in Hi-Def and featured on Singer And A Songs sites. The top performance will also be individually featured.

About Singer And A Song:
Singer And A Song is dedicated to showcasing and promoting talented unsigned and emerging singer songwriters.
It was originally formed to provide equipment and guidance to help these artists create higher quality videos for Youtube and similar sites than most artists were posting. Unfortunately, most of the videos on Youtube by such artists almost always have poor audio and/or video quality. These higher quality videos will be used to promote the artists not only to the Youtubers of the world but also to music industry professionals in recording, publishing, radio, television and the digital world. The videos will be hosted on www.Youtube.com/singerandasong and a dedicated site at http://www.singeradasong.info .
While preparing to launch Singer And A Song I quickly realized that there was also a need for a way to also help many of these same artists put their music out on CDs. While some have already done so on their own with full CDs, EPs and digital releases there is a certain value that comes with being on an actual label. Despite the quality of self released material it just does receive the same treatment. Perhaps more importantly any self released CD will not receive the promotion that even a small independent can provide. Therefore, I decided to also launch Singer And A Song Records http://www.singerandasong.info .
I have viewed almost 2,000 videos by unsigned singer songwriters. I originally selected 88 to feature. Of those first 88 artists 5 have already been signed to major labels. Clearly Singer And A Song had nothing to do with this happening. However, the point is that it shows to me that I still have an ear for artists capable of attracting interests from record labels. It also shows me that I am on the right track. I am fully convinced that still more will be signed. Singer And A Song will help make that happen for the few artists we choose to work with and who choose to work with us.
What Singer And A Song is today is not what it will be in a few months and beyond. It will grow and change based on the hard work and success of those who decide to answer the opportunity that is being given to them. Ultimately what happens is in the hands of the artists themselves. How much effort will they be willing to put into the projects? How motivated can they get their supporters to be? Are they willing to sacrifice immediate gratification for a longer and greater reward?
