Turkey Hunt Public Land (THPL) was created in 2009 by avid turkey hunter and champion caller, Shane Simpson. Shane travels the country, videoing the hunts of others as they pursue America's favorite game bird, the wild turkey. Participants are chosen from a list of interested hunters according to when they are available to hunt, their location and if it corresponds to Shane's desired travel route. Participants are not charged any fees for this service and as the title implies, most hunts occur on, but are not restricted to, public accessible lands. Videos of successful hunts, as well as a short biography of the hunter(s) involved, are usually posted to the THPL website within a day or two of their completion which allows visitors to follow along as the season progresses.
