About this user
The story starts back in old Sicily, to be more specific in Catania. Its 1952 when Raimondo Di Bono and Rosa Cerami give birth to Carlo Di Bono. Eleven years later, in 1963, they decide to take their children and everything theyve got to the promised land
Belgium! Where theres coalmines and work! On 17 February 1973, young Sicilian Carlo marries Marie-Jo. In 1978 they give birth to their second child: Raimondo Giuseppe Frederic Di Bono. A boy. Born and raised in Tongeren, Limburg.
Young Di Bono is very passionate about music. Going through his parents hippie and soul records (Marvin Gaye, James Brown, The Byrds, The Mamas and the Papas & the Stones), he finally ends up at the age of 8 with a first couple of CDs given to him by his older neighbour and best friend. Hes 13 and about to hear something he has never heard..
The Pixies, Bad Religion, Fugazi and Nirvana. Bands that will always have an influence. On his music. On his life. On everything he does. Their music is the soundtrack to his youth. An everlasting youth. A youth where bands are born.
Bands need musicians. And bands need a frontman/singer. Being raised on punk rock and grunge-stardom, he dreams of being Eddie Vedder, Kurt Cobain, Billie Joe Armstrong or Dexter Holland. Since air-guitar wasnt exactly the hottest thing in town back then, Di Bono chooses to sing. Sing Fella, Sing! And the boy sings. The boy has found a new passion. It takes a few bands to grow in his new profession and he finally ends up being asked to become the singer for the Genk-based punkrock-outfit SQUARE ONE. They choose to be the hardest working band in the underground circuit and end up playing over 200 shows a year. Bookings, artwork, media, everything is done DIY. Experience and hard work that is recognized, and in the end will have the effect they are looking for. Being a part of 100% Puur (Pop punt), winning the Studio Brussels Demopoll or becoming a Limbomania finalist is just a start.
