It was like the blue ray they used to reconstruct their base on Mars. The effect was to show that the car was being got at by the mysterons. This was the pilot episode and the only time the effect was used. Maybe it was dropped because it wasn't clear what it was supposed to be.

I wonder how they filmed this. He's moving in real time but his opponents are in slow motion.

Were they filmed separately and edited together?

It wasn't a car park it was called Car-View. Its an Effil tower you drive up.

He's driving backwards because in the event of a high speed collision he'd be forced into the seat instead of being thrown forwards, which is safer than relying on a seat belt. Quite likely to happen to a pursuit vehcile with a ramming fender.

There was a spiral roadway which ran up the centre and then from the centre out to the base of the platform. You can't see it in this clip because it broke away when a hellicopter crashed into the Carview. That's why the Carview is collapsing by the way.

I find it annoying as well.....the dancers don't bend over once!!
