I too think this was one of the best comedy / drama series the BBC produced in the 80s. Apparently there are several legal problems surrounding the 2nd series, too boring to go into here, but info available on the internet, and it's unlikely ever to be released on DVD. I'd love to hear from any...

If I'm not mistaken this scene is an affectionate tribute by Rowan Atkinson and all to the wonderful Jacques Tati - in one of his early films (I think it may be called Le Facteur) there's an almost identical scene in which he glides past a group of racing cyclists.
