Featuring eighteen of Yale's most talented undergraduate musicians, SIC InC presents amplified chamber music in shows that assault the senses, combining rock-concert lighting and video projections in a contemporary, energetic way.

SIC InC, which stands for Student Independent-Classical Interdisciplinary Collective, performs with a slowly changing array of colored lights and collaborates with video artists, dancers, and theater directors to welcome its audiences into the world of complex music.

Without compromising the sophistication of the work they perform, SIC InC challenges the conventions associated with traditional classical concerts and has broken down barriers that typically intimidate mainstream audiences, especially young audiences. On campus, the group has developed a following from a variety of cultural scenes.

Now in its second year, SIC InC has consistently played to sold-out venues. In October, SIC InC performed in a joint concert with the Yale Symphony Orchestra, a midnight Halloween Show that entertained more than 2500 cheering students in Yales Woolsey Hall.

The premiere show, Sic Futuristic, played last spring to four sold-out performances at Yales Off Broadway Theater and was greeted with a rave, full-page review from the Yale Daily News. Reporter Nicolas Niarchos described the show as something between a creative orgasm and a mellow outpouring of the most innovative undergraduate takes on classical art forms youll see at Yale.

The ensemble's instrumental music is composed by Yale juniors Stephen Feigenbaum and Ellis Ludwig-Leone, both 20. Feigenbaum conducts the instrumentalists, while Ludwig-Leone contributes live electronic beats to complement the music. When any of the musicians are not performing, they remain onstage, reacting to the music, clapping, or dancing to it, augmenting the energy of the show. The instrumentalists of SIC InC were selected by audition and have trained at conservatories including the Juilliard School and New England Conservatory.
