So really, its not a matter of if Ill be one of those, its a matter of when.
As my brother puts it.
I strive on dancing, but I haven't been doing that lately. Been to busy with college and all...
But! Im still animating.
A few words of encouragement to some people out there.
Even though Im not the greatest dancer out there, I still can dance a little bit.
So for that, Im glad I achieved some type of rank as a dancer. Be it probably at the lowest level, beginner, but! Its better than never being able to dance...
so anyway...
A girl told me a long time ago.
"Why do you want to dance?"
It was during my 9th grade year, I had no rythm at all. I couldn't cwalk, but I had passion for the art of dancing. I loved how people could move like that. How they could control their bodies and make visual yet temporary art with their bodies.
"..."
I knew my answer, but I wanted to hear what she would say to me. She said something I never expected.
"You know, you should just give up on dancing. Stick to what your good at. and what your good at is art."
I wasn't good at football, or volleyball, or even basketball. Heck I sucked at school. I had no talent for anything BUT art.
"but I dont want to be just an artist! I want to be something else..."
Her words infuriated me. I wanted to prove her wrong. To prove a point that you can do anything if you set your mind to it.
She shrugged and shook her head in displeased way.
Since that day I had begun to practice and practice at cwalking. Im still not able to dance the way I want to, but Im self taught. I try and not watch too many youtube vids, since one has to have originality.
Its hard, but Im learning little by little. I plan to actually practice everyday this summer. I dont want to go one day without practicing. When I was younger, I didnt practice that much, not as much as I should have. This year Im changing that. Im going to become more determined than anything. I want to become a good dancer.
But anything IS possible if you put your mind to it. You just gotta believe you can do it.
