No, tempo is right! Melancholy does not mean mournful! This is a madrigal about the fleeting pleasures and losses of love. That dotting in the refrain doesn't work unless the speed is kept - otherwise it just becomes leaden.

The point about this clip is that it takes great generosity for a performer to step back and let a backing singer - especially one of such talent - take centre stage. Not only a great talent, but considerable kindness.
