The city mostly gets its power from an interconnection grid with the Leyte Geothermal Power Plant which also powers majority of the Visayas Islands. There are also coal-fired power plants. Distribution of electricity is provided by the Visayas Electric Company (VECO).

Wag mo naman sanag i generalize yung comment mo.........hindi lahat ng iloggo tulad ng iniisip mo...hindi naman talaga mayaman yung cebu ah...^^ Naging mayaman lang kayo dahil yun sa coal fired power plant...isa kayo sa may pinakamaraming mag produce ng CO2..kaya ayan marami yung nagpapatayo ng business dun dahil malakas nga yung supply ng energy...pero nasabi din sa lecture na nakuhaan ko ng details na yan..eh..ilonggo din yung mga businessmen dyan...kasi matatalino yung mga ilonggo..alam ko rin matatalino din yung mga cebuano.. BE CONCERN nmn about MOTHER EARTH^^
