Syria has been suffering for over 4 decades. Al-Assad family has managed to turn the country into a company with them as the only shareholders. They ripped off their own people, and crushed down any head that would raise to simply ask: why?
Syria is another version of North Korea, as its former tyrant Hafez al-Assad settled everything throughout his 29 years to deliver power to his son and keep the company "limited" inside the family.
His young son, Bashar, came to rule Syria amidst a miracle of the county's constitution changing within 5 minutes in order to accommodate him. However, Syrians thought that he is one of a kind and since he is young, he might bring the wind of change with him.
In those 11 years of Bashar's administration, Syria has passed through the worst times ever. Economy decreased as agriculture retreated. Nevertheless, it is not a matter of cash to the Syrians, but it is their freedom which has been robbed since the early 70's.
Who can imagine that in 2011 there still people shouting FREEDOM everyday and dying for it?
Yes, Syrians are dying simply because they are asking for their own freedom with empty hands. They are seeking back their dignity with words. All they want is change, but al-Assad company is crushing them down to keep their business running.
What you may read from the Syrian media about rebels forming their own militias to confront the army is merely nonsense. Syrian revolution is and will always be peaceful, even though victims are dying for that every single day.
Now, tanks are all over the country, shelling people just to terrorize them and to stop them going out in rallies. They are shooting also at the elderly and children and.. people who DID NOT and CANNOT go on demonstrations!
Europe got shocked for those victims in Norway (who we deeply feel sorry for), but did the world ever think about those thousands falling in Syria?
This is just a call for justice. It is a call for our rights which we thought Europe and the United States stand up for and fight all over the world for it.
We do not want to pick up our arms to defend ourselves and drag the region into a never-ending war. We are calling for freedom and peace, but al-Assad will not turn us loose for freedom.
We think we have paid enough, and now it is your turn to SAVE OUR SOULS and shout FREEDOM for us in your own country.
We need intervention from you as soon as possible. Remember: everyday you put this off, a soul that you could save will pass by.
