About Voices of the Holocaust
Dachau is left standing because it must be..
All the Dachaus -- all the Belsens..the Buchenwalds..all the Auschwitzes --
all of it..
They must remain standing because they are a monument to a moment in time when some men decided to turn the Earth into a graveyard..
Into it they shoveled all of their reason.. their logic.. their knowledge..but worst of all..their consciences..
And the moment we forget this.. the moment we cease to be haunted by its remembrance..
then we become the gravediggers...
Something to think about..something to dwell on and remember..

Mail to Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive

Dear Sir,
Today to our shock and horror we discovered our YouTube account (shosh34), dedicated to educate about the Holocaust in an attempt to keep memory alive and thus (hopefully) contributing to the same not happening again, was deleted.
'Dear Member:
This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive claiming that this material is infringing:
180. In the blood alive I: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMXQrIOGUuc'
An account with 700+ subscribers and still growing. Destroyed over copyright issues. Does (jewish) history not belong to us all? We can't help but wonder how a Film Archive can object to (some of) it's material being spread in an account aimed at education. An account carefully built to help people understand the Holocaust from it's start to it's 'ending'. To help understand it's causes, to help see it has no ending (yet).
Maybe we do understand, but hope to be very wrong. Does it not seem like Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive, even the name suggests so, has bought history and is now claiming it? The glorification of one man at the cost of many others? If so we can not possibly think of anything more sad, of anything more horrifying, of anything more insulting to the countless victims of a disastrous period in time.
We very much would appreciate a reply, and please do not insult us any further with lawyer mambo jambo. We are talking about the human side to life here.

""Why, of course, the people don't want war," Goering shrugged. "Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship." "There is one difference," I pointed out. "In a democracy the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars." "Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.""

"We must remain aware of the fact that as long as absolute truth is not accessible to us (and it never will be), relative truths have to function as mutual correctives. Approaching the one truth from various sides, sometimes even in opposite directions, we cannot attain it, but we may at least encircle it."
