Wheldon was a great driver in life, and a greater driver in death. Unfortunately, in some network, sponsor, or Indycar office, a smile lurks behind poker face solemnity. Why? Extremely moving and melodic. One of the great tragedies of the fall of the epic film in Hollywood was the fall of the epic film score, best illustrated by Rozsa's compositions. WAY is a much better record than their nadir, WBN. That being said, I'll take Townshend's EMPTY GLASS or ROUGH MIX over WAY any day. QUADROPHENIA was the last mega-brilliant Who album, a perfect, reflective coda to their recording career. From then on, the genius only surfaced on occasion.

Much of mediocre old Hollywood was glad to see Orson receive his "come-uppance," since most were jealous of the contract he originally had received from RKO. Too bad a fully produced version of these tracks wasn't released in '84 or '85. Too bad Topper couldn't keep it together back then. I'll take these audio experiments and B.A.D. any day over the punk-by-numbers CUT THE C-RAP, and I consider Strummer a genius wordsmith/vocalist.
