About this user
On June 30th, Sun Health announced the addition of The Colonnade, a planned senior living community in Sun City Grand, to its enterprise of nonprofit entities. The 40-acre campus, which opened in March 2008, is located across from Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center near Grand Avenue and Meeker Boulevard. Offering a number of residential living options for seniors, the campus includes a 40,000 square foot recreation village, featuring an auditorium, restaurants, wellness center, indoor pool, spa and fitness facilities. The Colonnade currently consists of 70 casitas and four townhomes and the recreational village. Once fully developed, the planned $100 million continuing care retirement community is projected to include 150-250 additional units with most of the new units built as townhomes and multistory villa apartments.
Prior to this transition, The Colonnade was a partnership between the Roskamp KRW partners, led by Bob Roskamp, and Sun Health. The shift in ownership and to nonprofit status provides Sun Health with the opportunity to build out the campus as the real estate market rebounds. Owning and operating nonprofit senior living communities is directly aligned with Sun Health's mission to continue its service to the community and support of healthy living. The Roskamp partners, principally based in Florida, own multiple properties throughout the country and have intended to reduce their investments in Arizona.
In addition to The Colonnade, Sun Health owns and manages La Loma Village located in Litchfield Park and is now the majority owner and manager of Grandview Terrace in Sun City West. Collectively, this represents more than 450 independent senior living units and more than 275 assisted living/skilled nursing units on three campuses.
Sun Health's commitment to first-rate retirement living and its philanthropic partnership with Banner Health are ideal matches for a community that values both a vibrant quality of life and superior health care. Sun Health provides $12 million in grants annually to programs and services that benefit Banner Boswell Medical Center, Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center and Banner Sun Health Research Institute.
Along those lines, Sun Health is also well poised to launch additional programs and services that provide longstanding benefits for healthy living. In the coming weeks, Sun Health will launch a community-based medication management program and disease management program, designed to support residents with chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure and diabetes.
