Elder Sherman Haywood Cox II is the founder of SoulPreaching.Com, an interdenominational center for the celebration of the African American Preaching Tradition.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Math and a Master of Science in Computer Science with an emphasis in Software Engineering. Both from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

He also holds the Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Homiletics from Vanderbilt Divinity School. While attending he earned the Kelly Miller Smith Institute Certificate in Black Church Studies. He also won the Florence Conwell Prize for accomplishments in Preaching.

Elder Cox also was a team member of the African American Lectionary working both as a contributor and completing an internship there.

Elder Cox is proudly a PK. He is the son of a Black Preacher, He happily engages in Black Preaching in multiple churches of many ethnic and denominational traditions, and he is a student of Black Preaching.

Elder Cox's ministry is intentionally "interdenominational." The audience of SoulPreaching.Com is 46% Baptist, 20% Non-Denominational, 18% Pentecostal, 11% Methodist, and 5% other groups. Elder Cox believes that we do not obliterate our denominational background when we come together. Instead we bring our background (ethnic and denominational) with us as gifts to help enrich the whole Christian community and the world.

He is married to the former Rutesha Olanda Stroman and they both have a son (Sherman Haywood Cox III) and a daughter (Sherlanda Natalie Cox).
