Music was so beautiful, but audience noise level was that of a market place!

I have practiced the erhu for 30+years and cannot even play 空山鳥語 1/3 of the speed. The sound is quite transparent and crystal clear to my ears. Every note seems to be on the pitch, which is hard to come by. The string instruments are the most difficult to master.
